IT

For the behinds the scene, I decided to watch 2017 It directed by Andy Muschietti

This is one of my favorite movies and I didn’t think much of the preproduction. One of the hardest and longest processes was choosing the design of Pennywise the dancing clown. I never read the novel but I did watch the original movie and I have to say there is a very noticeable difference between Pennywise. They had to make sure he resembled a clown but had a noticeable effect that he was different. While on the other hand, the children’s costumes were very simple and true to their characters. That seemed about the easiest part about the movie. The sets on the other hand are unbelievable. The town Derry is just unbelievable how they were able to capture such a community in a terrible place. Also, in the video they showed the tunnels they made for the sewer scenes and that obviously took a very long time.

Some things I’ve learned is that a lot of sets are going to have to be built to the way you want them. If there is a vision but no place like it, guess what you have to build it. It’s hard to imagine and process that until you get a budget and the proper team. Also, the budget is important to know and keep track of especially when it comes to multiple sets and a town involved. It took about 3 months to film but the pre production probably took over a year. It sets a high bar for a comedy and horror film based on a novel.
